Echoes of Veiled Light

When line upon line percussion approached me about writing a new piece for them, they had a simple but terrifying request: “Write us a quiet piece.” Echoes of Veiled Light is a meditative and at times even lyrical work that exploits the quiet side of percussion for the length of the entire piece.  The idea of ‘echoing’ comes from the close imitation of thematic material, which is used throughout the piece, and ‘veiled light’ refers to the use of bright, metallic instruments in a muted way, creating a hazy, cloaked effect. Echoes of Veiled Light appears on line upon line percussion's self-title album, which you can obtain on iTunes or Amazon.
